Mark Rosenzweig (whispers)  > Travel > Adventureland Park
Adventureland Park is located in Altoona, Iowa- a small eastern suburb of Des Moines. The park opened in 1973 and is one of the largest and nicest family owned and operated amusement parks left in America. From classic wood coasters to flat rides to homegrown charm, the park is a must visit for any amusement park fan. These photos were taken in July of 2006.

Mark Rosenzweig (whispers) > Welcome to Adventureland! To any fan of Disneyland Park, this scene may look vaguely familiar. Adventureland's founder Jack Krantz took great inspiration from Walt's original park in creating his own Main Street entrance "land". In 2000, a Chance Rides 3 row carousel was installed in the center of "Town Square".
Mark Rosenzweig (whispers) > This aerial view down Main Street clearly shows the inspiration taken from Disneyland.
Mark Rosenzweig (whispers) > You can catch the "A-Train" from the Adventureland Train Station located directly over the park's main entrance.
Mark Rosenzweig (whispers) > Adventureland's Main Street has its own version of the Penny Arcade.

Mark Rosenzweig (whispers) > Now onto the rest of this great park. Adventureland's amazing skyride literally cuts its own path through the mature treeline of the park.
